Our Board

South Burnett Care is governed by a Management Committee that meets bi-monthly to provide South Burnett Care with strategic oversight, advice and leadership.

Paul Laurentiussen

Chairman

Paul Laurentiussen is a solicitor and principal of JA Carroll & Son, Solicitors; a locally based law firm and has resided in Kingaroy since 2007. Prior to being admitted as a solicitor in 2005, he worked for Centrelink for a period of over 14 years. Paul is a member and past president of the Taabinga Rotary club and has previously served on the Board of Jobmatch in Kingaroy.

Richard Brannelly

Deputy Chairman

Richard Brannelly is a qualified accountant and financial planner and a partner in CommonCents Financial Planning a Toowoomba based financial advice business that works largely with retirees in the Darling Downs and South Burnett. Richard was previously chair for 3 years of Brightside on Victoria a Toowoomba based day respite center prior to the 2018 merger with SB Care. Richard has lived in Toowoomba since 2002 and believes passionately in helping grassroots organisations make a real difference in our local community. Richard has previously served on the boards of local private schools and sporting organisations.

Bruce Jay

Treasurer

Bruce has thirty plus years’ experience in commercial banking, finishing his career as a Business Banking Manager in Kingaroy and his career also includes twelve years in the public service with Queensland Health working in finance, assets and taxation. Bruce is now retired and concentrates his time on not for profit work including as a Board Member of Kingaroy Lions and Links Community Services (Disability Employment Service).

Craig Lucas

Board Member

Craig Lucas is one of the longest serving members of the association and his community work encompasses working with the Kingaroy Show Society, the Kingaroy Christmas Carnival and the Disability Art Show. Craig summed his connection to SBcare up by saying “Being disabled myself, I feel as though I want to give back to my family, friends and the community for what they all have done for me.”

Ralph Masters

Board Member

Ralph Masters has twenty years’ experience within the IT Training field, working as a computer trainer and programmer. Ralph also has worked as a volunteer rural fire fighter and as the group’s Training Officer and a management committee member. In the past he has served on the Crow’s Nest Rural Fire Brigade Committee in most executive roles and also the Toowoomba Older Peoples Action Group.

Kym Ebenestelli

Board Member

Kym Ebenestelli is a Director of dms CREATiVE in Toowoomba and has more than twenty years of experience in strategic marketing and creative design. Prior to dms CREATiVE, Kym worked as the Marketing Manager for Toowoomba’s largest shopping centre for seven years. There she was responsible for the strategic planning and tactical execution of significant marketing campaigns, the management of substantial budgets and management of relationships with more than 200 stakeholders. Prior to the merger with SBCare, Kym was the Vice President for the Toowoomba Welfare Association (Brightside on Victoria) and currently serves on the Management Committee for Toowoomba Together Incorporated.

Jack Newbery

Board Member

A dedicated pharmacist based in Kingaroy, Jack Newbery is passionate about ensuring accessible healthcare for rural communities. Choosing to work in Kingaroy - reflects his commitment to providing quality care away from the big city. Jack values the rewarding challenges of regional healthcare, aiming to make a meaningful impact on the well-being of individuals and families. His expertise in medication management, patient care, and community health initiatives makes him a valuable contributor to SBcare’s team, supporting the health and independence of locals in the region.

Steven Fiedler

Board Member

Steven Fiedler has lived in the South Burnett his entire life and is deeply dedicated to the community. He is the director of Fiedler Brothers Plumbing and, along with his wife Emily, is raising their three young children in the area. Steven has been an active member of the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry's executive committee and also volunteers his time as a coach for local sporting teams.
