SBcare is the trading name of the South Burnett Senior Citizens Association Inc.
The association was founded in 1975 as a community organisation.
The association's objective is to promote and assist the welfare and good of the citizens in the South Burnett area.
We look to the needs of people living in the community, with an emphasis on older people and younger people with a disability.
What does the Association do?
- Provides and maintains the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre, which enables a diverse range of leisure / recreational, community services for senior citizens and residents of the South Burnett.
- Provides a range of community care services to the frail, aged and younger people with a disability living in the South Burnett community.
- Provides accommodation for financially disadvantaged seniors and younger people with a disability.
SBcare provide a range of care services which are aimed at helping carers care longer, helping people to stay at home longer, to help people maintain independence in the community and to help people maintain their quality of life.
- Are you faced with new situations, health problems or changes related to age or disability?
- Are you new to caring for someone with ongoing needs or are needs becoming greater?
- Navigating the possibilities of available help in the community can be daunting.
SBcare staff can help with the information that you need and / or refer you to the person or organisation best able to help.

We can help you to do the things that you have always done and to support you at home.
In Home Respite
Our staff will care for the person in their home whilst the carer has 'time off'.
The carer can have a sleep, go shopping, attend meetings, appointments etc.
Our staff aim to give the carer support which allows 'time off', knowing that the one they care for is safe and happy.
Home Maintenance / Helping Hand
Our staff would like to see you stay in your own home, but sometimes that means that you might need a bit of 'manpower' to handle the routine maintenance around your home.
Our staff can give help with home maintenance such as:
- Mowing lawns (standard 1/4 acre block only)
- Rubbish removal
- Changing smoke alarm batteries
- Changing light bulbs and fluoro tubes
- Changing tap washers
We can also give you assistance with the installation of grab rails.
Our staff also provide free information about employing a tradesperson and obtaining other specialist help.
At SBcare we know that if you care for someone, it can become very demanding both physically and emotionally. Carers sometimes can become lonely and distressed.
SBcare services is designed to assist and support carers by 'Sharing the Caring'.
This is important when you need a break, so we encourage you to seek assistance before a crisis situation develops.
Carers can be assured that we will take good care of the one you love.
We aim to get to know them so that we can meet their needs.
